2018 Padma Awards Recipients Announced by Government of India.

    85 Padma awards have been announced by the government in keeping its mission to honor the “Unsung Heroes”. Cricketer MS Dhoni and Bhojpuri folk singer Sharda are also among awardees.

    Among all awardees 3 are Padma Vibhusan, 9 Padma Bhusan and 73 Padma Shri.

    There are 16 awardees who are NRI’s, PIO’s or foreigners were as three of them are conferred post-obit.

    According to Ministry of Home affairs over 15000 applications were received.

    The Padma Awards are one of the highest civilian honors of India announced annually on the eve of Republic Day. The Awards are given in three categories: Padma Vibhushan (for exceptional and distinguished service), Padma Bhushan (distinguished service of higher order) and Padma Shri (distinguished service). The award seeks to recognize achievements in all fields of activities or disciplines where an element of public service is involved mentioned in Padma awards online portal.
