Kabul: After 13 hour Gun battle hotel siege ends

All the three terrorists who attacked the Intercontinental Hotel in Kabul have been eliminated after 13-hour long gun battle, confirmed by the Afghanistan Ministry Of Interior, as reported by Tolo news.

January 20 when the Intercontinental hotel was attacked by three gunmen around local time 21:00 (16:30 GMT).  Special forces were also involved to engage the gunmen so that there are no such casualties. The Gunmen were attacking to guests and staffers but at correct time the special forces were called.

MoI spokesperson Najib Danish has confirmed that security forces were able to sweep all the areas in the hotel so that situation is under the control. According to hin around 100 guests and staffers have been rescued, in which there are 16 foreign officials.

He also said that all who died are Afghan nationals, and even he dismissed the hostage report.

Previously the hotel was attacked in 2011 where approx 29 people were killed along with 9 attackers.

The attack has come just after the announcing of the warning to the hotels announced by US embassy in Kabul.
