#PadManChallenge ; challenging the menstrual taboo

Bollywood knows really well how to get on the nerves of people. They know how to start a new trend and go viral among the youth. The most recent trend which B-Town has started is The PadMan Challenge.

This move of team ‘PadMan’ is definitely going to boost up the film’s box office collection. This style of film promotion is little different and will be fruitful for the film’s success.

The challenge was kicked off by the Team PadMan to reach out to a large number of people to create awareness about the menstrual hygiene and usage of pads.

In this challenge, the Bollywood celebrities are seen posting their pictures with Pad in their hands with #PadManChallenge and saying “yes, that’s a pad in my hand and there is nothing to be ashamed about…It’s natural! Period”.

It is a chain and the friends are challenged and tagged in the pictures to accept the challenge and complete the task by posting their picture with a pad.

The challenge is taken by Alia Bhatt to Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif to Karan Johar, and a large number of actors.

It is also joined by the Head Coach of Indian Cricket team Ravi Shashtri and Badminton Player P.V Sindhu.

The film ‘PadMan’ is based on a true story. It is a story of Arunachalam Muruganatham, who made a machine for manufacturing low-cost sanitary napkin and spread awareness about traditional unhygienic menstrual practices in India. In 2016, he also received Padma Shri by the Government of India for his efforts.

The challenge was started by Muruganatham, Akshay Kumar, Radhika Apte, Sonam Kapoor and Twinkle Khanna. But now, this challenge is getting very popular among the youth also.

The challenge was started with the aim of creating awareness among people about the menstruation and sensitized them about the issue.

But is this really going to reduce the taboo about it from the required places?
