9 CRPF Jawans dead in Naxal attack after IED blows up truck: Chattisgarh

    Nine Jawans of Central Reserve Police Force(CRPF) were dead and three WERE wounded when Maoists blow the truck with Mine Protection Vehicle(MPV) in Sukma district, Chattisgarh on Tuesday afternoon.

    The special director general of police (anti-Naxal operations) DM Awasthi said that

    The encounter took place after the Maoists triggered an IED on an anti-landmine vehicle of the 212 CRPF Battalion’s patrolling team was going from Kistaram to Palodi.

     

    The encounter was followed by the blast in which 9 personnel of CRPF died and 3 got injured seriously.

    The Maoists had targetted the 212 Battalion of the CRPF, which was on an area domination exercise in the forests of Kistaram. The group was on its way from Kistaram to Palodi in an anti-landmine vehicle, reported news agency Press Trust of India, quoting DM Awasthi, a senior officer of the anti-Maoist operations.

    Home minister Rajnath Singh and Chief Minister of Chattisgarh Raman Singh has condemned the attack on the 212 CRPF Battalion’s Patrolling team.

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi has tweeted saying that country salute all the martyrs.

    Those killed in the encounter were: assistant sub-inspector RKS Tomar, constable Ajay Kumar Yadav, constable Manoranjan Lanka, constable Jitendra Singh, constable Shobhit Sharma, constable Manoj Singh, constable Dharmendra Singh, constable Chandra HS and head constable Lakshman as stated in Hindustan Times.

    President Ran Nath Kovind also tweeted saying they are fully determined in the determination of defeating every kind of terrorism.

    Even on March 2,10 Maoists and a constable of elite commando force Greyhounds were killed in an encounter in the forests of Chattisgarh, bordering Telangana.
